Moving And 'Hating' It.......

We often mention the importance of doing your own research before moving.. And….ensuring that you don’t move to an area, ‘just because you’ve had nice holidays there’.

Recently we received the following feedback:

About 5 years ago as a single 50 something woman, I sold up in Sydney and moved north thinking it would be a wonderful change as I'd always loved holidays up there. Big mistake! I HATED it! I cried nearly every day, I couldn't get work, I missed everyone down here and after a year I sold up and moved back to Sydney.

I was very, very fortunate that house values had gone up in Sydney so I sold out here at a good price however, they hadn't yet taken off in where I had moved, so I was virtually able to sell up there after 1 year, making a good profit and come back to Sydney with no huge loss so was able to buy back in. I was very very lucky with the timing but I'd never do it again. Maybe if I had a partner it would be different but it was the most miserable experience of my life.

I'm a very positive thinking, happy person but it was the most miserable year of my life. I've never really understood depression but I think I had a form of it during that time, I just felt so unhappy. If people read my story and maybe think twice about such a big life change after reading it, then all the better.

On the other hand, you hear of people who do it and say it was the best thing they could have ever done so who knows'.
